The screen displays all patients that have been registered in the ED (using Quick Registration) in a list on the left side of the screen with a green background. For each patient name, there are three columns of information on the tracking board. These three columns represent the patient location (bed), order status, and triage level. These three columns utilize symbols and shapes to indicate the current status.
The Patient List allows the user to toggle between displaying the patient’s entire name and a shorter version which only displays the patient’s initials. Check the Display all names box to display the patient’s entire name; uncheck the box to display the abbreviated display of patient names.
The patient list can be sorted so that the list provides information in a customized view. The default sort is by patient name. To change the sort of the list, use the drop-down list in the Sort field located in the upper portion of the window to select one of the following sort options: Patient Name, Triage Level, Order Status, Length of Stay, Physician, Registered Nurse, or ED Technician. Once selected, the list is resorted using the selected option.
The Patient Location column is the first column in the Patient List area and is noted with the “bed” icon, indicating the bed management function, which is used to assign the patient to a bed, waiting room, or other location.
The Order Status column, located as the middle column of the Patient List area, is indicated with the “Orders” icon. This column indicates to the care providers the status of the patients’ orders. They are listed in order by "least-progressed" order by patient using one of the following symbols:
The green circle indicates that the patient has completed orders. |
|
The yellow triangle indicates that the patient has pending orders. |
|
The red octagon indicates that the patient has orders that require action. |
The Triage Level indicator, located in the far right column of the Patient List area, notes the patient’s current clinical or triage level. Your facility may choose to use a 3 or 5 level triage scale.
When using the 5 level scale, the levels are noted using the following symbols:
This symbol indicates a Resuscitation triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates an Emergent triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates an Urgent triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates a Semi-Urgent triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates a Non-Urgent triage level. |
When using a 3 level scale, each level is indicated by one of the following symbols:
This symbol indicates an Emergent triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates an Urgent triage level. |
|
This symbol indicates a Non-Urgent triage level. |
