Patient Details area

This part of the screen displays the details regarding the status and activity of the patient during the ED stay. To display details specific to the patient, click the patient name in the Patient List area. The details for the selected patient are displayed.

Complaint

The patient complaint(s) is displayed in the Complaint field. This field is not modifiable from this location. Go to the Triage window to edit the patient complaint information.

Triage Level

The Triage level is displayed in the Triage field. This field is not modifiable from this location. Go to the Triage window to edit the patient triage information.

To modify the Stage of Care

The Stage of Care is displayed in the second column of the Patient List area. To change the Stage of Care, use the drop-down list here to display and select the appropriate stage. Then, click Save. The Tracking Board is refreshed with the new symbol in the Stage of Care column.

Icons

The following buttons represent types of orders for the patient. These buttons will be colored red, green, or yellow to indicate the current status of orders in that area. The text next to the icon will also be colored to indicate the current status of the orders: New (red), Complete (green), or In-Process (yellow) based on the order status. The button color indicates the status of the each patient's "least-progressed" order.

This icon represents the current status of medication orders. Click this button to view the Order Tracking > Order Details page.

This icon represents the current status of radiology orders. Click this button to view the Order Tracking  > Order Details page.

This icon represents the current status of lab orders. Click this button to view the Order Tracking > Order Details page.  

This icon represents the current status of ED-specific orders. Click this button to view the Order Tracking > Order Details page.

These buttons provide direct access to other portions of documentation. Click the button to access the feature:

This button is used to save the current information and navigate to the Chart Notes window.

This button is used to save the current information and navigate to the Assessment window.

To modify the Patient Location

The patient’s current location is displayed in the first column of the Patient List area and also here in the Current Bed field. To change the location, use the drop-down list in the Reassign Location field to select the appropriate location. The Tracking Board is refreshed and the patient’s new location is displayed in the Patient Location column.

If you select a bed that already contains a patient, you will receive a Warning box asking if you want to continue with the assignment. Click Yes to continue.

To modify the Caregiver List

The caregiver list displays important information regarding the caregivers that are assigned to the patient, as well as age and gender. To make adjustments, use the drop-down list in each of the following fields to select the appropriate caregiver: Dr, RN, and Tech. Then, click Save.

Patient Care Statistics

The Patient Care Time Statistics area is display only and provides details regarding the waiting times in the ED. The fields are displayed in minutes and contain the following information:

LOS

The Length of Stay (LOS) is the elapsed time from registration to the current time. This represents the total time the patient has been in the ED Department.

Triage

The Triage time is the elapsed time in the current Triage Level. For example, when the Triage Level is changed to ”r;2 - Emergent”. This field displays the elapsed time since that change. The display will read ”r;Emergent: 11 minutes”.

DR

The DR time is the elapsed time that the patient has been assigned to the physician. For example, when the patient is assigned to a physician in the Quick Reg or Tracking Board windows, this field displays the elapsed time since that assignment. The display will read ”r;Dr. John Smith: 11 minutes”.

SOC

The Start of Care (SOC) is the elapsed time in the current stage of care. For example, when the stage of care is changed to ”r;In Radiology”. This field displays the elapsed time since that change. The display will read ”r;In Radiology: 11 minutes”.

Remember, if you make any changes on the page, click Save to save your work before you navigate away from the page. To go to Bed Management, click the Bed Management link in the lower left corner of the screen.
